Mick Cole, Maintenance Manager, BHPB Ravensthorpe
To whom it may concern,
I write this letter about the business I have personally had with SMS since first working with them in 2008, at the BHPB Ravensthorpe site. SMS were engaged as the principle scaffold contractor BHPB Ravensthorpe and performed duties on the Greenfield site, such as establishing site procedures, day to day scaffolding requirements and more complexed shutdown activities, which included total management of individual projects.
In 2014, I was working at Southern Port Authority, Esperance, and had a corrosion control issue on an iron pre-conveyor gallery which fed the Berth 3 ship loader. There were many constraints to this task, such as gallery load weights, access, and time restraints. I contacted SMS, and worked through the issues. Mark and the team, engineered a safe and cost effective solution which included the use of a aluminium type scaffold. Prior to site mobilisation, the SMS team engineered and trialled the scaffold installation in Perth, ensuring all issues were dealt with in a controlled manner. Consequently, the shutdown was a success with all tasks completed safely.
Throughout all my dealings with SMS, I have always found that they place a high priority on safety and customer service, with all issues dealt with in an honest, open, and timely manner. I have no issue recommending this company for projects and hope to use them myself again in the future.

I would like to extend my thanks to all your people who worked on crane 7 on Monday and Tuesday. I understand conditions were less than ideal with the service crane being out of action and the weather closing in yesterday. This coupled with a tight time frame meant that the cooperation between the maintenance crew and your boys was essential. Please pass on my thanks on the all involved, it was appreciated.
